The painters of Kamloops Arts and Craft Club meet in the lower lounge of the Heritage House located in the city’s beautiful Riverside Park. Here they share ideas, techniques, information, the love, and sometimes the frustrations, of painting.
The painting group is a mixture of very new to very seasoned artists and all are very willing to share their knowledge and expertise, guiding and helping each other as needed.
There are two painting groups within the club with members invited to join in the activities of either group. The Tuesday morning group meets from 9:30 to 12:30,
while the Wednesday afternoon painters meet from 1 to 4. Both groups explore art in many forms that sparks their interest such as sketching, drawing, acrylics, watercolours, pastels and pen and ink. As well, they delve
into interesting aspects of art such as lino cutting and mono printing.
Often mini workshops are offered, sometimes open to the public. The groups especially enjoy when a member attends an outside workshop and brings back new experiences and knowledge to share with the rest of the
group.
On either day, members work on their current projects and discuss ways to improve their art and learn from each other. Some days, the group session is just a place to go, see what others are up to, sit back, enjoy a cup of coffee and talk
about art.
There is also the opportunity to take part in other activities that happen Tuesday mornings as the painters share the room with the fibre artists and general membership.
The painters also take part in the club’s two annual Tea and Artisan Sale events where they can display and sell their artworks.Contact:
